was lying vacant since the retirement of Sunil Porwal on December 31 and his
subsequent appointment as information commissioner for the Konkan region. Additional
chief secretary (services) Sitaram Kunte
and additional chief secretary (industries) Satish Gavai were also in the
reckoning for the post.
