Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the file on JS empanelment of 1999 batch IAS reached the PMO last week. Reportedly, 35 names are being considered in the final round. The 1999 batch IAS is relatively a small batch comprising of about 50 IAS officers. It is even smaller than the 1998 batch which included only 55 officers.
Indianmandarins was the first to report (news dated 12 July) that the Civil Service Board on 11 July 2016 had cleared 42 names for empanelment. It is believed that six officers didn't have their APRs and two officers did not qualify the criteria. The matter which is worrying the batch is that if only 35 are to be finally considered. where the rest of seven names are stuck. Power corridors are abuzz that the seven names might have been put on the deferred list.
It may be recalled that altogether 42 IAS officers belonging to the 1998 batch out of 55 were empanelled to be posted as JS in Govt of India. 23 officers (1998 batch IAS) were empanelled on 06 March 2016 and another 19 were empanelled in the review which was held in June 2016.
