The Gujarat State Election Commission (SEC) has set a new example in inefficiency: on Friday, nine days after the results of local body polls were announced on December 2, its website finally carried the detailed data of the outcome that are usually shared the same day.
Further, the data that showed Congress making significant inroads by increasing its vote share by 9% and BJP losing 3.3% in cities as against 2010 was promptly removed from the website. According to the data, in district panchayats and taluka panchayats, where BJP faced a rout, it lost 6.21% and 5.36%, respectively.
State Election Commissioner Varesh Sinha claimed that the data were removed because they were still being examined.
