New Delhi (19.11.2025): Apparently taking the unconventional approach and showing disrespect to the decision of the government seem to have gone against Surendra Singh Yadav (IPS: 1997: AGMUT), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Border Security Force (BSF), who was transferred thrice in less than two years. He also served under his juniors as DIG BSF by a transfer order on April 1, 2025. Now, he has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre i.e AGMUT
In fact, the 1997 batch IPS officer was working as Special Commissioner of Police (CP), Economic Offenses Wing in Delhi before being shifted to Chandigarh in March 2024 as DGP. Yadav, who was transferred from Delhi to take over as DGP, A&NI, was actually suddenly sent to Chandigarh as DGP. As DGP, he first came into limelight when he got around 2763 police personnel transferred who were stuck at one place for a long time. This was an unprecedented decision by any DGP which was followed by giving hearing to the complaints of the public by participating in public meetings along with police personnel in the police stations.
Meanwhile, the UT police personnel who were upset with their chief allegedly made a letter viral on social media in which abusive words were used against him. The DGP conducted an internal investigation against those who conspired to write this letter and a case was also registered against three UT Police personnel. Although the case was later shelved and no action was taken against those police personnel.
Amidst all these developments, on the late night of April 1, 2025 an order was issued by the Home Ministry in which Yadav was transferred from Chandigarh to Delhi BSF as DIG. Yadav was asked to report to Delhi headquarters with immediate effect.
But due to his protest, he was given Command of Chhattisgarh anti-Naxal headquarters. Yadav approached the court against these transfer orders and challenged the order of appointing him as DIG below his junior officer. But the court did not pay any heed to his application and rejected it. Meanwhile, from the Delhi BSF headquarters, the Home Ministry sent him to the Rajasthan IPS Police Academy for orientation and from there he has been sent to the Naxal area in Chhattisgarh where his workplace was Anti-Naxal Operation Command Headquarters.
