DS Mishra's career gets fresh lease of life as UP Chief Secretary

8410New Delhi (29.12.2021): Ahead of increasingly complex Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and two days ahead of retirement the outgoing Union Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra (IAS:1984:UP) was repatriated to cadre state (Uttar Pradesh) as new Chief Secretary. Mishra will replace Rajendra Kumar Tiwari (IAS:1985:UP). Further, the Centre issued another notification extending the tenure of Mishra's service by December 31, 2022. Mishra was scheduled to retire on December 31 handing over the baton to the newly appointed OSD (MoHUA) Manoj Joshi (IAS:1989:KL). Not to mention the Yogi Government would have proposed the extension in Mishra's service with the Centre’s consent. Yet needs to be explored whether Mishra is Centre’s choice as CS or State’s or both.
