The CBI Director Alok Verma has reportedly revoked the
transfer orders issued by the then director in-charge M Nageshwar Rao.
Accordingly, the transfers of DSP A K Bassi, S P Gurm, Jt Director A K Sharma
and others were withdrawn with immediate effect. It may be underlined that the High-Powered Committee comprising PM Narendra Modi, Justice A K Sikri and leader of
opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, ended inconclusively today. As per
the SC order Alok Verma cannot take major policy decisions till the final
decision is taken by the statutory committee. Though, immediately after taking
the charge Alok Verma, using his administrative powers, revoked most of the
transfer orders issued by the then director in-charge M Nageshwar Rao. It may be mentioned that CJI
Ranjan Gogoi had recused himself from the committee, and instead nominated
Justice A K Sikri for the high-powered committee. The CVC Report, on the
allegations against CBI Director Verma, were placed before the selection panel
which ended inconclusively.
