Shah Faesal (IAS:2010:J&K) who
had irked the Centre by his tweet on ‘so called rape culture, has resigned from
the service. Reportedly, he may join National Conference to pursue active and
electoral politics. Faesal was the topper of his batch (2010). Former J&K chief minister
Omar Abdullah welcomed Faesal’s decision saying; “The bureaucracy’s loss is
politics’ gain. Welcome to the fold @shahfaesal,†Omar tweeted. Faesal has submitted his
resignation to the government. Reportedly, Faesal could be the NC’s candidate
for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. A doctor by profession, Faesal
was the managing director of the J&K Power Development Corporation (JKPDC)
before he went to Harvard University in the United States to pursue further
studies. He was supposed to join his department in June this year. Irked over his tweet the Centre
had asked the J&K General Administration Dept to initiate an inquiry into
his tweets, as he “allegedly failed to maintain absolute honesty and integrityâ€
in discharge of his official duty.
