CBI: Three MP cadre IPS officers in consideration zone for ADG post

Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that selection to Additional Director General post is underway and may be cleared soon. If some top sources are to be believed three IPS officers belonging to MP cadre have brighter prospects namely; Alok Pateria (IPS:1986:MP), Sudhir Kumar Saxena (IPS:1987:MP) and R K Tandon (IPS:1988:MP). All three had earlier worked with CBI at DIG and Jt Director level.

Presently, Pateria is working as ADG in CISF; Saxena is ADG, CRPF whereas Tandon is serving in cadre state of Madhya Pradesh.

It may be mentioned that CBI has one Special Director and three ADG elevel posts. Presently, M Nageshwar Rao (IPS:1986:OR) and Praveen Sinha (IPS:1988:GJ) are serving at ADG level and one ADG post is expected to be filled up shortly.

Though, two internal candidates (Jt Director) could have been considered for the ADG post but for some technical reasons their empanelment to hold ADG level post is stuck up.

Retired IPS Lakshminarayana may have joined TDP

By IndianMandarins 15 Mar 2019

IPS officer VV Lakshminarayana, who took voluntary retirement as Maharashtra ADG last year, may have already joined Telugu Desam Party and may contest from Bheemili constituency in Visakhapatnam district.

Before quitting, he had requested the Maharashtra government for deputation to rural development service.

He went around AP trying to reach farmers and youth. He began his new journey from Yazili village in Guntur district. However, his efforts remained more of an NGO activity than culminating in political consolidation.

Several political parties have approached him with decent offers. Lok Satta founder Jaya Prakash Narayan is said to have requested him to take the reins of the party. Though Lakshminarayana appeared to have liked it, he has remained noncommittal.

The TDP leadership showed interest in roping in the retired bureaucrat with a considerable fan following to contest an Assembly seat from Bheemili. A minister is said to have met him two days ago and convinced him to accept the offer.

Lakshminarayana actually hails from Rayalaseema region but may contest the election battle from North coastal Andhra.

As a joint director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Lakshminarayana tackled several sensational cases including Obulapuram mining scam - involving former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, Satyam Computers scam involving B Ramalinga Raju and the disproportionate assets and quid pro quo cases against YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Emaar Properties scam in Hyderabad.

The 53-year old IPS officer is said to have a huge fan following among the youth, women, and intellectuals in the state.

Tit-for-tat: Kolkata police summons CBI Jt Director

By IndianMandarins 23 Feb 2019

Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is seen lending a helping hand to fodder scamster and former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad to consolidate her national political ambition.

This is reflected in the Kolkata police sending a notice to CBI joint director Pankaj Srivastava, asking him to appear before the investigating officer at Bhawanipur police station within seven days in connection with a complaint registered against him last month.

One Vaibhav Khattar has filed a complaint with the Bhawanipore police station about the CBI illegally detaining and torturing him in a case in which he claimed he had no connection.

Khattar, an employee of a private mill in West Bengal, was raided by the federal investigating agency in August last year in connection with its investigation into alleged involvement of the mill owner, Dipesh Chandak, in a case of multi-crore fodder scam that had happened in Bihar in the early 90s.

The Kolkata Police summon to the CBI joint director (east) comes close on the heels of a fierce tiff between the premier investigating agency and the city police over its action against outgoing Kolkata Police commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the Saradha chit fund scam.
