As Indianmandarins had anticipated in its report on January 21 (weblink attached below) Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar (IPS:1983:UP) has been appointed as Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The post fell vacant in the first week of February, 2015 when the Central government relieved Rajiv Mehta (IPS:19981:AM) to move on as Meghalaya DGP.
NCB DDG B B Mishra (IPS:1983:AM) further held the additional charge of DG between February and March 2015. From April 01, 2015 the additional charge of DG NCB was given to Ashok Prasad (IPS:1979:AP), Special Secretary Internal Security, MHA.
While Prasad's retirement is only a week away, the appointment of a new DG had acquired urgency.
