Ranchi (11.12.2025): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) seems to be miffed with I.N.D.I.A. partners for shabby treatment that it got during Bihar Assembly elections but this is half-truth, the dalliance between the BJP and JMM started long before. When PM paid his homage to departed JMM leader and former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren in Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended his last rite in the state, eyebrows were raised. But why does the BJP want JMM in the NDA? The first and the foremost reason is that the BJP apparently wants to dry up resources of the Congress. If the alliance breaks, this will help the BJP to deal with the JMM later. The BJP also wants to send across a message that double engine government is the only successful development model that Jharkhand needs badly. Besides all these accomplishments, If the Congress is out of power in Jharkhand, it will be confined only to south India. The message will be bigger and unimaginable in the political scenario of India. But the most important issue that the BJP is vying for is to run a drive against the increasing Naxal menace and the “so called Bangladeshi infiltration”, in the tribal dominated state for that the help of administration may be needed to deal with the issue where situation is unlike Bihar and West Bengal. The nexus between mafia and red terror also needs support of the state government for which the Union Home ministry has set a deadline to eradicate it completely i.e. March 31, 2026. Killing of Nambala Keshava Rao aka Basavaraju and Madvi Hidma this year and surrender of hundreds have made their intensions very clear. In return, the JMM may get concession on many counts including court battles and financial assistance. So, if JMM wants to join the NDA or vice versa is debatable but it is certainly the NDA that would reap more benefits with its double engine government in Jharkhand too. Will it happen?
