Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that as many as fourty DS/Director rank officers (over 50 who have completed 30 years in service) have been shortlisted by CBDT to be offered VRS.
Indianmandarins on 27 October last year (weblink attached below) had reported that the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), directly supervised by the PMO, was acting fast on a proposal to implement Rule FR 56J for both Group A&B Services (IAS, IPS, IRS IT, IRS C&CE, IRTS, IRAS, etc).
Under this rule (FR 56J), services of officers who have either completed 30 years in service or reached 50 years of age, whichever comes earlier, will be reviewed. And those who get negative reviews will be given a three-month notice to retire.
