2018 batch IAS probationers donate funds to CRPFs martyrs

483Officer Trainees (OTs) of the 2018 batch IAS
have pooled their resources to support the families of CRPF martyrs. Ketan Garg, one of the OTs. has been quoted
as saying that minutes after they sent out a message for fund collection on
WhatsApp, they were able to get confirmations from others. While the idea was mooted by him, it found
unanimous support from the batch. Ketan says, “Having seen first-hand the work
that the army personnel put in, we had to do this from a humanitarian ground.
And with our recently concluded winter tour, the time we spent with them left a
telling mark on a majority of us.†The intent is to work with armed forces, and
this is our way of standing by and showing our solidarity, says Ketan. The 180 OTs of this batch have contributed
money equivalent to their one day’s salary to that of 15 days. They have
collected about Rs 7 lakh and will be handing it over to the Inspector General
of the CRPF in Dehradun.
