• New Delhi (01.07.2026): The Central Government has constituted National Road Safety Board (NRSB) with Dr Nitin R Gokarn (Retd IAS: 1990: UP), Former Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, as its Chairman along with over a dozen members. The board has been constituted using sub-section (1) of section 215B of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (59 of 1988).
    The Board has Transport Commissioners of Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Delhi as Members; Additional Director General of Police of Maharashtra, Odisha, and Tripura as Members; Additional Director General (East) and Additional Director General (North /Quality Control) of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways as Ex-Officio Member; Member (Admin.) and Member (Road Safety) of National Highways Authority of India as Ex– Officio Member;  Director (Technical – I) of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited as Ex-Officio Member.
    There are eight other members that are as follows: 
    • Satyendra Garg, IPS (Retd.) – Enforcement Strategies, Traffic Management Expert 
    • Arushi Baluja Sahi, HOD – Driver Training, Public Health, CSR & International Relations, Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) – College of Traffic Management and Forensic Science (CTM). 
    • Harsh A Poddar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nagpur (Rural) 
    • Gaurav Upadhyay, IPS, Secretary, Transport Department, Government of Assam 
    • Piyush Tewari, Founder and CEO, Save LIFE Foundation 
    • K C Sharma, Advisor (Motor Vehicle Legislation), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India

  • New Delhi (01.07.2026): Ravi Joseph Lokku (IPS: 1995: UP), ADG, BPR&D, has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) while Sanjay Mathur (IPS: 1994: TN), IG, NCRB, has been given additional charge of Director, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Both these appointments have been made upon superannuation of Alok Ranjan (IPS:1991: MP), Director, NCRB on 30.06.2026. Ranjan was also holding additional charge of DG, BPR&D.

  • New Delhi (30.06.2026): Notifications of appointments and recommendations issued on Tuesday are as follows:-
    1. Sanjay Mathur (IPS: 1994: TN), IG, NCRB, has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Director, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) upon superannuation of Alok Ranjan (IPS: 1991: MP) on 30.06.2026.
    2. Ravi Joseph Lokku (IPS: 1995: UP), ADG, BPR&D, has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) upon superannuation of Alok Ranjan (IPS:1991: MP), Director, NCRB on 30.06.2026, who was also holding additional charge of DG, BPR&D.
    3. Amit Kumar (IPS (BH:1994), Special DG, CRPF, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in Special Protection Group by temporarily upgrading one vacant post in SPG. The officer will take over as Director, Special Protection Group vice Alok Sharma (IPS: 1991: UP) on completion of his tenure on 31 .03.2027.

    4. Vineet Joshi (IAS: 1992: MN), Secretary, Department of Higher Education has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy upon superannuation of Sanjay Kumar (IAS: 1990: BH) on 30.06.2026.


  • New Delhi (30.06.2026): In a key top-level bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government of India on Tuesday appointed Amit Kumar (IPS: 1994: BH) as the next Director of the Special Protection Group (SPG), the elite security force responsible for the protection of the Prime Minister.

    Kumar, a senior officer of the Bihar cadre, is currently serving as the Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

    Kumar has been brought in as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) within the SPG with immediate effect to facilitate a smooth transition. He is slated to formally take charge of the premier security agency on April 1, 2027, succeeding the incumbent chief Alok Sharma (IPS: 1991: UP) who will be superannuating on March 31, 2027, after heading the elite wing.

    The SPG is a highly specialized force tasked with providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and their immediate family members residing with them. 

  • New Delhi (30.06.2026): Former Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar (Retd IAS: 1984: JH), who has the credit of conducting World's largest democratic exercise during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has been appointed as Chairman of HDFC Bank. His appointment is subject to the approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
    The HDFC Bank board on June 29, 2026 approved Kumar’s appointment as an Independent Director for a four-year term with effect from June 30. It also cleared his appointment as part-time Chairman for three years. The former CEC will replace Atanu Chakraborty (Retd IAS: 1985: GJ), who resigned in March, 2026 citing ethical concerns.
    Before heading the Election Commission as the country’s 25th Chief Election Commissioner, Kumar served as Secretary in the Department of Financial Services between 2017 and 2020, where he led a series of banking sector reforms aimed at cleaning up stressed bank balance sheets and strengthening the financial system.
    Kumar spearheaded the recognition and resolution of non-performing assets (NPAs), recapitalisation of public sector banks and governance reforms under the Centre’s “4R" strategy — Recognition, Resolution, Recapitalisation and Reforms. The bank said these measures helped restore the health of public sector banks and improve their profitability.

  • New Delhi (29.06.2026): Notifications of appointments and recommendations issued on Monday are as follows:-
    1. Manoj Joshi (IAS: 1989: KL), Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Fertilizers up to 13.07.2026 during the period of absence on leave of Rajat Kumar Mishra (IAS: 1992: RJ).
    2. Sarvanan Mannai Pathakkam (IPoS: 2000), CVO, Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL), Bengaluru, has been entrusted with additional charge of the post of CVO, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL), Bengaluru for a period of six months.

  • New Delhi (27.06.2026): Notifications of appointments and recommendations issued on Saturday are as follows:-
    • Priyanka Mary Francis (IAS: 2009: KN) has been appointed as Director, NGMA, (JS level), Bengaluru under the Ministry of Culture for five years i.e. up to 09.06.2029.
    • Tenure of Priyanka Chandra (IDAS: 2006), Director in the Ministry of Culture for a period of two years beyond 03.10.2026 and up to 03.10.2028. She is on central deputation w.e.f. 04.10.2021.
    • B Satya Yesubabu (IPS: 2011: AP) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
