New Delhi (27.06.2025):It has been a unanimous understanding that Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram and former Minister of state for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor is a constituency himself as his acceptability across the country is undisputed. So after leading Indian delegation to the US and couple of other countries in the aftermath of terrorist attack in Pahalgam and India’s retaliation by Operation Sindoor, now the government is taking his service in Russia.
He has gone there to discuss gamut of issues that need country's immediate attention and a person with expertise. Moreover, this is not any such visit but an important one as it was Ajit Doval who visited Russia the last as Prime Minister’s emissary to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. So, the importance of Tharoor visiting Russia is equally important. The Opposition may taunt by saying there is ‘Modi First’ for some but he is visiting Russia for the country. P V Narsimha too sent A B Vajpayee to the United Nations to represent India.
Tharoor was sent to Russia to meet Putin as special emissary of the Prime Minister. The Congress further claims that the BJP lacks talent so it is borrowing leaders from the Congress as S Jaishankar has failed miserably as Foreign Minister but sources have something contrary to say. His visit was not only supported by Jaishankar and Ajit Doval as well but was a collective decision of the government. Whatever political repercussions may be but in no way, they are going to benefit the Congress who is indulging is personal as part of the party’s strategy.
