New Delhi (22.03.2022): Power corridors of the Raisina Hills are buzz that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Principal Secretary PK Mishra (IAS:1972:GJ) has decided to call it a day. Mishra had worked closely with PM Modi in his home state and was re-employed after retirement. Dr Mishra replaced Nripendra Mishra as Principal Secretary who had resigned on personal grounds. As per sources, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba would be the next Principal Secretary in the PMO. Prime Minister’s Office. It may be underlined that Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba’s two-year fixed-term was extended for a period of one year beyond 30.08.2021 i.e. ending 30.08.2022 though he stands a chance for another extension as well. Further, it is also believed that Finance Secretary T V Somanathan (IAS:1987:TN) may be in the reckoning for the post of Secretary, PMO. A section of officials believes that the buzz about Somanathan appears unlikely as he has a service tenure up to May 2025 and he may continue in the Ministry of Finance. Somanathan served as Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office under Modi.
