New Delhi (24.05.2021): The Pinarayi Vijayan administration is said to have sent a list of senior IPS officers to the UPSC for its recommendation of officers for the post of the state DGP as the incumbent DGP Lok Nath Behera (IPS:1985:KL) is retiring nect month. Top on the list is the name of Tomin J Thachankary (IPS:1987:KL) who was probed for a disproportionate assets case. The state vigilance report in the case is still awaited. He is currently holding the post of KFC Managing Director. Another name for the DGP post doing the rounds is that of ADGP Sudesh Kumar (IPS:1987:KL). His chances may get stuck because of a case pending against his daughter. If some well-placed sources are to be believed Sanjib Kumar Patjoshi (IPS:1991:KL) is also in the consideration zone. It is rumored that if incumbent DGP Loknath Behera, a favorite of the CM, is not called for central deputation, he may be appointed as CIAL MD or CM’s police advisor if former DGP Raman Srivastava is moved elsewhere. For DGP selection, strict scrutiny now for merit, integrity, seniority based on which the UPSC will sent three shortlisted names to Kerala Govt to pick one to the coveted post of State DGP.
