New Delhi (24.05.2021): The high-powered committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reportedly shortlisted three names for the post of Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Along with PM Modi, Chief Justice of India, Justice NV Ramana, and Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary were part of the meeting to decide the next CBI director. As per the schedule, the meeting took place late evening today at PM's residence. Reportedly, three officers have joined the league as front runners namely; Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (IPS:1985:MH), DG, CISF; Kumar Rajesh Chandra (IPS:1985:BH), DG, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and V S Kaumudi (IPS:1986:AP), Special Secretary Internal Security (MHA) and Director, BPR&D but the appointment orders are yet awaited. Currently, Praveen Sinha (IPS:1988:GJ) is holding the position as the acting chief of CBI after the tenure of former CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla ended on February 3.
