As Indianmandarins had reported first on 05 February, Anup Chandra Pandey (IAS:1984:UP), the outgoing Chief Secretary of
Uttar Pradesh, has been given a six months extension in service. He was
appointed to the coveted post on June 28, 2018. The Centre gave its concurrence on extension to
Pandey by invoking the third proviso of rule 16(1) of the AIS (DRCB) Rules of
1958, after the state government recommended the extension citing crowding
Kumbh, the forthcoming LS polls. He was set to retire on February 28 but would
now continue to as Chief Secretary till August 31, 2019.
