Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that NaMo administration has been considering names for six secretary level posts.

Presently, five posts are lying vacant whereas the post of Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs  will fall vacant with the retirement of Avinash K Srivastava (IAS:1982:UP) this week.

The post of secretary, Ministry of Culture fell vacant after Arun Goel (IAS:1985:PB) was laterally appointed as Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry. At the moment, Union Tourism Secretary Yogendra Tripathi (IAS:1985:KN) is holding the additional charge of the Culture.

Post of Secretary, Department of Defence Production and Department of Youth Affairs fell vacant after Subash Chandra (IAS:1986:KN) and Upma Choudhary (IAS:1983:HP) retired on 31.12.2019. Dr Ajay Kumar (IAS:1985:KL) and Radhey Shyam Julaniya (IAS:1985:MP) are holding additional charge of Defence Production and Department of Sports respectively.

Similarly, additional charge of Department of Pensions & Pensioners' Welfare is with Kshatrapati Shivaji (IAS:1986:MH) who is working as Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (ARPG).

Further, many month-long vacancy in the department of School Education & Literacy has become a puzzle as most of the senior most bureaucrats clueless as why the NaMo govt has chosen to keep the post vacant for several months.
