New Delhi (13.06.2021): The NaMo administration has appointed Anand Mohan Bajaj (IA&AS:1990), Additional Secretary,  Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), as Member of the Board of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI); the market regulator handling capital markets and commodity derivatives. In SEBI he replaces Tarun Bajaj (IAS:1988:HY) who is now the Revenue Secretary.

A M Bajaj has been serving in DEA since May 2020 and prior to that he worked as Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry (since September 2018) and served as Director (Capital Markets) in the Finance Ministry between July 2006-June 2011.

The SEBI comprises of a Chairman, two members from amongst the officials of the Finance and Corporate Affairs Ministries; one member from RBI, and five other members of which at least three are to be whole-time members to be appointed by Central Government.

It may be underlined that the other Central Government-appointed official in the SEBI Board is K V R Murty, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Company Affairs.
