New Delhi (07.07.2023): In a cadre transfer matter of an IPS officer from West Bengal to Rajasthan, the Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the plea of the West Bengal government challenging an order of the Delhi High Court.
In fact, IPS officer Sagar (WB: 2019) had moved to CAT’s Principal Bench (New Delhi) for change of cadre from WB to Rajasthan on the ground that his wife was also an IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre and that similarly placed couples were allowed a change of cadre.
CAT in an order passed in February this year had directed the state government to grant an NOC to him within four weeks, failing which the NOC shall be deemed to have been issued.
Seeking quashing of the tribunal's order, the WB government had then approached the Delhi HC which refused to interfere with the CAT’s verdict. State government then moved to the Supreme Court but which dismissed its plea.
