Jaipur (21.10.2025): The Rajasthan government has sought repatriation of Rohit Kumar (IAS: 1997: RJ) and Siddharth Mahajan (IAS: 2003: RJ) from central deputation as the state faces acute shortage of officers. There are only 280 serving officers against sanctioned strength of 332.
At present, 23 Rajasthan cadre IAS officers are on central deputation, and one is on inter-state deputation, leading to increased workloads for the remaining officers. Mahajan serves as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Kumar is Additional Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. 
Another officer, P C Kishan (IAS: 2005: RJ), has also applied to return to Rajasthan for personal reasons. Additionally, Rajasthan is set to receive four more IAS officers post-Diwali through promotions, with 20 candidates under consideration by the UPSC.
