Chandigarh (09.10.2024): With Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal out on bail, some new alignments and course correction are taking place in Punjab where too AAP is in the power besides Delhi. In one such move, KAP Sinha (IAS: 1992: PB) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary (CS) of Punjab to replace Anurag Verma (IAS: 1993: PB) who was appointed CS in June 2023. Sinha was serving as the Special Chief Secretary, Department of Revenue and Agriculture and Water Conservation.
Verma has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Horticulture and Soil and Water Conservation. The whispering about change of the CS was going on for past two weeks. Meanwhile, AAP’s Delhi Darbar is said to have sent its envoys who are said to have been sitting in Chandigarh these days. Sources said that with such changes balance of power is being struck in the Punjab administration by cutting wings of Punjab CM.
