Mumbai (10.10.2024): Long before the elections in Haryana were over, Union Minority Affairs minister Kiren Rijiju has been put on the job in Maharashtra to win over around 5.81 per cent Buddhists. Maharashtra is the home to the largest Buddhist community in India that is around 77 per cent of the country's total Buddhist population. These are mostly Dalits who converted to Buddhism following Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Republican Party of India leader Ramdas Athawle too has been entrusted with the responsibility to win over Dalits and Buddhists in the state.
