Kolkata (31.01.2026): Just before the Assembly elections, the West Bengal government has effected a major reshuffle of IPS officers including state DGP and Kolkata Police Commissioner. Piyush Pandey (IPS: 1993: WB) has been appointed as in-charge Director General of Police of the state replacing Rajeev Kumar (IPS: 1989: WB) who is superannuating on 31.01.2026. The other changes are as follows:

• Manoj Kumar Verma (IPS: 2005: WB) has been posted as Director, Security, West Bengal.
• Supratim Sarkar (IPS: 1997: WB) will take over as Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. 
• Vineet Kumar Goyal (IPS: 1994: WB) has been posted as ADG (Law and Order) with additional charge of ADG, Anti-Corruption Bureau.
• Jawed Shamim (IPS: 1995: WB) has been given charge as ADG, Special Task Force (STF) with additional charge of ADG, Intelligence Branch.
• Ajey Mukund Ranade (IPS: 1995: WB) has been posted as ADG, Telecommunication.
• Vishal Garg (IPS: 1999: WB) has been elevated to the rank of ADG and posted as ADG, Cyber Cell.
• Anuj Sharma (IPS: 1991: WB) has been posted as DG, Fire and Emergency Services.
• Natarajan Ramesh Babu (IPS: 1991: WB) will head Home Guards.
• Siddhi Nath Gupta (IPS: 1992: WB) has been posted as DG, Correctional Services.
• Sanjay Singh (IPS: 1992: WB) has been appointed as Director, Civil Defence.
• Praveen Kumar Tripathi (IPS: 1993: WB) has been posted as CP, Barrackpore.
• Murli Dhar (IPS: 2005: WB) has been posted as CP, Bidhannagar.
• Amit P Javalgi (IPS: 2006: WB) has been posted as IGP, Burdwan Range.
• Mukesh (IPS: 2006: WB) has been posted as IGP, Murshidabad and Jangipur Range.
• Syed Waquar Raza (IPS: 2007: WB) has been transferred as DIG, Nadia and Ranaghat.
• Kankar Prosad Barui (IPS: 2007: WB) has been posted as DIG, Prisons
• Shyam Singh (IPS: 2007: WB) has been posted as DIG, Telecommunication.
• Alok Rajoria (IPS: 2008: WB) has been transferred as DIG, Barasat Range.
• Akash Magharia (IPS: 2009: WB) has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Howrah, in the rank of DIG.
• Bhaskar Mukherjee (IPS: 2009: WB) has been posted as DIG, Presidency Range.
• David Ivan Lepcha (IPS: 2010: WB) has been posted as DIG, Traffic, West Bengal,
• Gaurav Lal (IPS: 2011: WB) has been posted to the CID in the rank of DIG.
• Koteswara Rao (IPS: 2011: WB) has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Chandannagar, in the rank of SP.
