New Delhi (07.05.2025): When Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri was done with his briefing on India’s retribution on Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 innocent tourists were killed, the two officers -- one from Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and the other from Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi -- told the media about the operational details.
It was named as ‘Operation Sindoor’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for majority of men killed in the terror attack were newly-wed couples. The name, Operation Sindoor, is heavy with symbolism. Hindu women put sindoor -- meaning vermilion -- on their head as a symbol of marriage.
A total nine target in PoK and Pakistan were hit killing over 70 terrorists. This government is known for not only action but messaging too. A high-ranking Muslim woman army officer facing the media is a message for such people who were making it a Hindu nation verses Muslim nation.
The government made it clear that only the terrorist camps that have been used to plan and execute previous terror attacks and India and which were planning to further carry out similar attacks were targeted, and highlighted in no uncertain terms that no military establishments were targeted by the Indian forces.
