NEW DELHI (16.05.2026): Battling severe institutional scrutiny over repeated paper leak allegations in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Department of Higher Education, the Centre on Saturday moved to overhaul the administrative framework of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The newly inducted Joint Directors and Joint Secretaries are:
  • Akash Jain (IRS IT: 2013): A seasoned Indian Revenue Service officer as Joint Director.
  • Aditya Rajendra Bhojgadhiya (IA&AS: 2013): An officer from the Indian Audit and Accounts Service as Joint Director.
  • Anuja Bapat (ISS: 1998): An Indian Statistical Service officer as Joint Secretary for a tenure of five years.

  • Ruchita Vij (IRS C&IT: 2004): An Indian Revenue Service officer as Joint Secretary for a tenure of five years.

The bureaucratic deployment of 2013-batch officers from specialized oversight and financial auditing backgrounds reflects New Delhi’s intent to enforce stringent internal checks, improve audit trails, and restore data integrity within the embattled testing body.

The Shift to Computer-Based Testing:
Alongside the administrative cleanup, the Ministry of Education announced a structural shift in the examination's format. In a bid to permanently eliminate the vulnerabilities (paper leaks) associated with physical question papers and logistical transit, the government has decided to transition the NEET examination completely to a computer-based test (CBT) platform starting from the 2027 academic cycle.
