New Delhi (05.09.2024): The Madhya Pradesh government has started preparing panel for the post of DGP that will be forwarded to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) later this month. The incumbent DGP Sudhir Saxena (IPS: 1992: MP) will be retiring in November, 2024. Arvind Kumar (IPS: 1988: MP), Kailash Makwana (IPS: 1988: MP), Ajay Kumar Sharma (IPS: 1989: MP) and GP Singh (IPS: 1989: MP) are some names in the reckoning. The list may also have names of Shailesh Singh (IPS: 1987: MP), Sudhir Kumar Shahi (IPS: 1988: MP) and Vijay Kataria (IPS: 1990: MP).
The UPSC has revised the criteria for selection of DGP. Now it requires officers to have experience in serving Economic Offence Wing, CID or cybercrime branch of the state government or work experience in Central Para Military Forces, CBI, SPG, NIA, NSG, ED, Narcotics Control Bureau or SNAA.
