The race has started for four crucial positions of CBDT. Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that as many as 15 applications were received for the post of Member in Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT). Of fifteen, two lucky applicants are now out of the consideration zone. These posts were advertised on July 04 with August 03 as last date for submission of applications. Though notification (dated 04 July) did not mention the number of vacancies but the government is expected to fill four posts of member. There is an interesting perspective as well. Presuming that the previous panel (FY 2017-18) was scrapped, P C Modi (IRS:1981) and Aditya Vikram (IRS:1982) did not take risk and chose to apply for the post. Modi had been appointed earlier whereas Aditya Vikram reportedly submitted application on last date i.e. August 03. But Modi and Aditya Vikram were considered by the ACC on August 06 and both were appointed as Member in CBDT. The induction of these two led to the ouster of two applicants from the race leaving only 13 in the fray for four positions of Member in CBDT.
