Mumbai (27.06.2025): With Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik (IAS: 1987) retiring this month-end, speculation is rife that who would be her successor. Some of the names that are doing round included Rajesh Kumar (IAS: 1988), Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue); Rajesh Aggarwal (IAS: 1989), Secretary at the Union Ministry of Social Justice and I S Chahal (IAS: 1989), Additional Chief Secretary (Home).
Insiders say that the Centre may not spare Aggarwal, so he is ruled out. Indianmandarins has learnt that in all likelihood Chahal has fair chances of becoming the next CS of Maharashtra.
A couple of other names are also important. Manisha Patankar Mhaiskar (IAS: 1992), Additional Chief Secretary (PWD); Anil Diggikar (IAS: 1990), Additional Chief Secretary for Divyang Kalyan Department and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani (IAS: 1990), are also in the reckoning.
