New Delhi (09.05.2025): The poll-bound Kerala has effected a reshuffle of nine IPS officers at senior and middle level; though with a ploy. The implications of the reshuffle may unravel in the coming weeks but as of now, it has created two ex-cadre posts (for one year w.e.f 09.05.2025) equivalent to Additional Director General and Inspector General of Police. The newly created ex-cadre posts are Excise Commissioner (Level 15) and IG & DG Prisons & Correctional Services (Level 14).

Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the creation of posts (temporarily) and reshuffle is part of a strategic ploy.

The list of IPS officers reshuffled goes as follows:-

• Yogesh Gupta (IPS: 1993: KL), Director, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, has been transferred and posted as DG, Fire & Rescue Services.
• Manoj Abraham (IPS: 1994: KL), DG, Fire & Rescue Services, has been transferred and posted as Director, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau.
• M R Ajithkumar (IPS: 1995: KL), ADG of Police, Armed Police Battalions, has been transferred and posted as Excise Commissioner in the ex-cadre post.
• Balram Kumar Upadhyay (IPS: 1997: KL), DG of Prisons and Correctional Services, has been transferred and posted as Director, Kerala Police Academy (KEPA).
• Mahipal Yadav (IPS: 1997: KL), Excise Commissioner, has been transferred and posted as Additional DG of Police, Crimes.
• G Sparjan Kumar (IPS: 2002: KL), IG of Police, Intelligence, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Crimes I, Thiruvananthapuram.
• P Prakash (IPS: 2004: KL), IG of Police, Crimes III, Kozhikode, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Coastal Police.
• K Sethu Raman (IPS: 2004: KL), IG of Police & Director, KEPA, has been transferred and posted as IG and DG of Prisons & Correctional Services in the ex-cadre post.
• A Akbar (IPS: 2005: KL), IG , Crimes- II Kochi, has been transferred and posted as IG, Internal Security.
