Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman K C Venugopal alleged Sebi chairperson Madhbi
Puri Buch in the Lok Sabha and questioned Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that why no
action has been taken against Buch. Venugopal accused her of having
allegedly received over Rs 16 crore between 2017 and 2024 from ICICI Bank while
working with Sebi. “Inaction against Sebi chairperson undermines the
government’s claim of commitment to investor confidence,” Venugopal said.
