New Delhi (21.11.2024): The high voltage Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand are wrapped up with a turnout of 61.99 per cent and 68.01 per cent (phase 2) respectively. Results will be declared on November 23, 2024. Jharkhand witnessed a high turnout comparing to 2019 Assembly elections when 67.04 per cent votes were polled. Turn out in Maharashtra is also better than 61.4 in 2019. As always, a lower turn out in Mumbai city with 50.36 per cent turn out and Mumbai suburban at 52.53 per cent.
The twelve districts of Jharkhand that went to poll on Wednesday had high turnout of 65 per cent except Bokaro which was at 61.62 per cent. JMM’s Hemant Soren is fighting a tough battle to retain power. Maharashtra is facing a challenging battle of ballots between Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) comprising Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) and the Congress facing challenge from BJP-led Mahayuti.
