recent official reshuffle in Himachal Pradesh has caused consternation in some
circles as its fallout has reportedly made Sanjay Kundu (IPS:1989:HP) emerge as
the linchpin of the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister who is said to have chosen
him for several key positions simultaneously. Kundu
was promoted from Additional Director General to Director General of Police
(DGP) rank February this year. He
is already holding charges of many important positions which were generally
earmarked as IAS cadre posts like Principal Secretary Vigilance, Principal
Resident Commissioner at Delhi, Additional Principal Secretary to CM
responsible for monitoring all infrastructure departments like Power, PWD, and
IPH. In addition, he has now been appointed Principal Secretary Excise & Taxation.
