New Delhi (11.12. 2022): The Government is learnt to have cleared the recommendation
of Supreme Court Collegium to elevate Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar
Datta as judge of the top court. Sources said the file is now before the President of India for signing warrants
of appointment. Justice Datta may be sworn in as Supreme Court judge early next
week if file is cleared by the President. Justice Datta’s name was recommended
by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by former Chief Justice U U Lalit on
September 26.
