New Delhi (30.10.2024): At a time when BJP led NDA is trying to unseat JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided more than a dozen premises linked to Vinay Kumar Choubey (IAS: 1999: JH), former Principal Secretary to CM Hemant Soren. Choubey also held the post of secretary of the Excise Department during the implementation of the 2022 Excise Policy. He was sent to the Panchayati Raj department after Hemant Soren resigned after his arrest in a land-scam case.
In addition, Joint Excise Commissioner Gajendra Singh and several liquor businessmen face massive raids as part of the investigation into liquor scam in poll-bound Jharkhand which is also the Cadre of state of the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar (IAS: 1984: JH). ED is conducting simultaneous raids in Ranchi and Raipur (Chhattisgarh) as part of the probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
