New Delhi (29.11.2023):Atal Dulloo (IAS: 1989: AGMUT) has been appointed as the next Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir replacing incumbent CS Arun Kumar Mehta (1988) who is retiring on November 30. This is to recall that the Centre swung a surprise on November 20, 2023 by repatriating Union Secretary for Border Management Atal Dulloo to the Cadre state on the request of Union Home Ministry. This is very interesting to underline that Dulloo is a Kashmiri pundit. He is first such officers appointed CS after migration of Kashmir Pandits.
It was apparent with the decision of repatriation of Atal Dulloo that the Centre made up its mind to draft him as the next Chief Secretary of the Union Territory. Raj Kumar Goel (IAS: 1990: JK) was also considered to be Mehta’s successor but repatriation of Dulloo made things more or less clear. Indianmandarins has learnt that Dulloo is accomplishing his today’s meetings in MHA and being relieved today to move to J&K.
