The incumbent Chief of Railways' finances Sanjoy Mukerjee (IRAS:1978) left the Railway Board Members and his cadre officers clueless and surprised by putting in his papers abruptly on June 24, 2016. Mookerjee, Financial Commissioner, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to Govt of India has sought VRS by August 31, 2016, three months before he would attain superannuation age. After a successful stint as GM, NAIR, Vadodra, Mookerjee took over from Ms Rajlakshmi Ravi Kumar (IRAS:1977) on September 30, 2015 as new FCRB.
It is speculated that the reason would be somewhat related to the affairs of Railway Board rather than personal ones which is yet unheard or unnoticed by any of his junior colleagues.
Mukerjee's move has triggered murmuring over possible reasons which may come forth in couple of days.
