Ranchi (26.06.2025): The Home department of Jharkhand government requested Accountant General to issue a provisional pay-slip to state DGP Anurag Gupta (IPS: 1990: JH). The AG will issue him a provisional pay-slip subject to the ruling of Jharkhand High Court. The AG has placed a rider while issuing this provisional pay-slip that in case HC declares his appointment illegal, then the salary given to him will be recovered from him.
On the other hand, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had sent a letter to the Jharkhand Chief Secretary stating that Gupta was superannuated on April 30, 2025 when he attained the retirement age. The Jharkhand government has claimed that the appointment of the DGP is according to new rule. This entire controversy is likely to be decided by the HC.
