New Delhi (24.06.2024): Having suffered the worst-ever poll defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections when the BJP lost all 10 Lok Sabha seats it had won in 2019 but also reduced its vote share in the state, BSP supremo Mayawati decided to go aggressive in all Assembly elections. She reinstated his nephew Akash Anand to the position of national coordinator. She was severely criticised from all across after removing him from the post which was looked upon to be done under pressure of the ruling dispensation to help it indirectly. She had sacked him from the post two months ago for making some inflammatory speech that had irked the Election Commission of India. At the BSP's national executive meet, she deliberated upon the declining graph of the BSP in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in which his vote bank shifted to the Congress and the SP combine. This is a matter of concern for the party as Dalits are originally Congress vote bank. Shifting Dalit votes to the Congress may be an existential threat to the party. Mayawati has decided that the BSP would contest all forthcoming state Assembly elections. She has decided to launch the membership drive aggressively and membership fee has been slashed to Rs 50 from earlier Rs 200.
