Kolkata (31.08.2024): The West Bengal government has appointed Dr Manoj Pant (IAS: 1991: WB), Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation & Waterways, as Chief Secretary of the state vice B P Gopalika (IAS: 1989: WB) superannuating on August 31, 2024. Gopalika was Home Secretary of the state before taking over as the CS on December 31, 2023 replacing H K Dwivedi. 

Gopalika was originally scheduled to retire on May 31, 2024 but the Centre extended his tenure for three months to continue as the state’s CS up to August 31, 2024.
