In a major development, the Centre today appointed former IB chief Dineshwar Sharma (Retd IPS:1979:KL) as the Representative of Government of India to initiate and carry forward a dialogue with the elected representatives, various organizations and concerned individuals in the State of J&K. "Finding permanent solution for Jammu and Kashmir is top priority" said Dineshwar Sharma.
In next one week, Dineshwar Sharma will be visiting the Valley where the situation is tense since last 18 months, after the death of Burhan Wani; a Hizbul Mujahideen leader.Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, "Dineshwar Sharma will be free to interact with all sections of society in Jammu and Kashmir, especially youth and understand their aspirations,".
Sharma served as Director, Intelligence Bureau between December 2014 and 2016 and gracefully refused NaMo administration's offer to accept extension beyond superannuation.
