New Delhi (09.08.2021): The Congress Party seems to have upped the ante against the Narendra Modi government by not leaving any issue on which it can corner the Government. From seeking an answer from the Government on Pegasus spyware to protest demanding cancellation of Farm Law, the Congress has made temporary blocking of Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter account a big issue with #मैं_भी_राहुल or I too am Rahul by accusing the ruling dispensation of putting pressure on the micro-blogging site to block Rahul. Several senior Congress leaders come out in support of Rahul Gandhi by Tweeting #मैं_भी_राहुल or I too am Rahul. They also accused the Government that there are two different laws as former BJP MP Anju Bala and a member of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes too tweeted pictures of the parents of the deceased girl. But no action has been taken against her. The Congress is trying to unite the Opposition and some initial success is visible but as always witnessed, the tempo of taking on the Government dissipates with Parliament not being in session. But this time around, the Congress and other opposition political parties appear to be serious to take this offensive till the BJP is not only dislodged in five states where elections are likely in January-February 2022 but also from the Centre in 2024. The real test of the Opposition will come only after Parliament will be adjourned sine die on August 13. The BJP quipped the Congress that the aping saffron party by #मैं_भी_राहुल will not work. It will have to devise its own innovative strategies to take on the BJP. But the Congress appears upbeat with its success in athe narrative building in social media.
