In a letter sent to former CBI director Alok
Verma on Wednesday, the MHA said: “You are directed to join the post of DG,
Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards immediatelyâ€. This has come two
weeks after Verma told the Department of Personnel and Training to consider him
retired. Â Why does the Home Ministry want him to join
the new office for a day he was moved against his wishes? Possibly to ensure
that he retires honourably. Earlier, in his letter to the DoPT, Verma had
argued that since he had attained the age of superannuation from government
service on July 31, 2017, and crossed the superannuation age for DG Fire
Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards, he wanted to be superannuated from
the day he was moved out of CBI. Â But this was not acceptable to the government
in view of a lot of legal and administrative complication.
