Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that appointment of a Central PSU Chief has become a bone of contention and the same may be challenged in the court of law. Reportedly, a complaint has also been lodged with the country's premier investigative agency. What has made the issue complex is the response of the concerned department and division. The premier department handling Personnel issues recently made it clear, in writing, that it was not aware of any document involving the appointment procedures because the matter was handled by a particular division under the said department. The department, on 18 April 2018, put the ball in the court of the concerned division to respond. The division, on May 01, 2018, said that it did not handle or maintain any such information or document related to the appointment. Reportedly, it is now upto the concerned ministry to provide the details of the appointment but the inordinate delay in the same has further added to the doubts regarding the process and procedures followed. It may be underlined that selection interview for the top job was held by the public sector headhunter in June last year but it was cancelled abruptly following the intervention of the concerned Union Minister. The selected interview was rescheduled the selection board could not find any of the candidate suitable following which a Search-cum-selection committee was constituted to select a suitable candidate. While the selection process was underway appointment to the top post was made abruptly on lateral shift basis. It is said that neither the due diligence was adhered nor the candidate, picked for the job, fulfilled the eligibility to hold the post in the given framework and time.
