Ranchi (01.05.2025): The Jharkhand government has decided to continue with Anurag Gupta (IPS: 1990: JH) as DGP of the state. The Hemant Soren government will send the reply to MHA's missive which wrote that continuing Gupta as DGP beyond April 30, 2025 was not appropriate.

The MHA letter had categorically stated that: "Continuation in services of Anurag Gupta as DGP Jharkhand beyond the date of superannuation in violation of rule 16 (1) of the All India Service (Death cum Retirement Benefits) Rules 1958 is not legitimate. As such, Government of Jharkhand is directed to retire Anurag Gupta on 30-04-2025 from the post of DGP Jharkhand."

Despite the clear instructions from the MHA, the Soren government is likely to retain Anurag Gupta and send a reply to MHA.
