New Delhi (19.10.2024): The Election Commission of India has asked the Jharkhand government to remove Acting Director General of PoliceAnurag Gupta (IPS: 1990: JH) and also to hand over charge to the senior most DGP-level officer in the cadre.
The Jharkhand Government will submit a panel of senior IPS officers by 10 a.m. on Monday. This decision came taking into account a history of complaints and action taken by the Commission against Gupta during previous elections. Ajay Kumar Singh (IPS: 1989: JH) is expected to be reappointed as the state’s DGP. The directive comes amid two key reasons — First, Gupta was appointed as acting DGP on July 24, 2024. Second, complaints were lodged against him with the Election Commission.
