New Delhi (18.05.2023): Four months ahead of retirement the Centre appointed Gujarat Cadre IAS officer Bidyut Bihari Swain (IAS: 1988: GJ) as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Currently, Swain is working as Union Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). With his appointment a Secretary rank berth in Govt of India falls vacant sparking hope for those waiting their turn.
Tenure of the member of UPSC is six years or until he/she attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier. After Swain’s appointment, four posts of Member in UPSC still remains vacant.
