a-six-month-extension-sought-for-assam-dgpIndianmandarins has reliably learnt that Centre has received a proposal from the Assam Govt to extend by six months the tenure of Mukesh Sahay, the outgoing state police chief who is scheduled to retire on April 30 this year. In case the central government accepts the recommendation, Sahay will have an extended tenure till October 2018. However, there is a possibility that the Centre may consider granting Sahay only three-month extension. It is believed that the Assam government for reasons of stability in administration prefers to continue with chief secretary Vinod Pipersenia and DGP Mukesh Sahay, though both were appointed by the previous CM Tarun Gogoi.
