Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Vivek Sahay, a 1988 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre, may be recalled prematurely from United Nations assignment. Currently Sahay is posted as Senior Police Adviser (UNIOGBIS) at United Nations Integrated Peace Building Office in Ginea Bissau. Prior to his appointment for UN assignment he served in CRPF as IG.
Reportedly, the Union Home Ministry has started thinking about the issue after the West Bengal Govt in a recent communication objected to the center's decision to appoint the officer for UN assignment without having NoC from the state. In the aftermath of communication from WB Govt, the MHA took it seriously and started exploring as to how such a mistake occurred.
It is further learnt that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh wants to rectify the mistake even if it has precedents and happened in the past.
